Front Page Is300 Story
Our front page has a front facing picture of a 1st gen IS (is300) which now serves as a parts pointer to Lexus is300 cars. Its worth explaining the story of this car.
I bought the 2004 Lexus Is300 from Reno, NV at a local auction with oil pan damage, yes, the car was salvaged because of that but it did not bother me, at the time the car was needed for parts but everyone was anxious to see what the real damage is. Here are pictures from the auction site.
Yes, the car had 134k miles, but it looked like it was in pretty good shape, additionally aftermarket rims and lowered statue gave it appeal. I know it’s an average is300, but I liked it.
After I brought it from reno, put it on the lift, replaced the oil pan, refilled with all fluids etc. The moment was to find out if the engine is OK. Turn of a key and it purrs. 2jz still lives. That put big smiles on our faces and decided the fate of the car. This was not going to be a car for parts.
This car went up for sale, after detail and cleaning it looked great! Car got new tires, little tune and even with 134K the automatic is300 for ready for the next owner. My current Manual is300 has 275K miles so you understand how long these cars last.
Images of when the car was posted for sale
The car was sold to a guy who said: “this one was the cleanest one I’ve seen”.
